Description
The Octopus is taken from a wood engraving which you can find on Historiae Animalium by Conrad Gesner, which is an encyclopedic โinventory of renaissance zoologyโ published at Zurich in 1551โ58. It is the first modern zoological work that attempts to describe all the animals known, and the first bibliography of natural history writings.
Linocut printed with a vertical press on 200 gr. ivory paper rismacqua Favini using chalcographic redย ink. To get this kind of red I have mixed two different colors,ย madder lacquer and red ocher.
