Yes, all the items on sale are my original creations.

Yes, all my creations come from my original drawings.

The original watercolor is a unique work, made by hand, which requires hours of work and tests, and that finds its completion in a single subject that cannot be reproduced identically by hand.

The reproduction is a scan and subsequent high quality digital printing on 260 gr. Modigliani hammered ivory paper of an original subject. Essentially, the reproduction is the “series” version of an original watercolour.

Chalcography (Gravure printing) is a printing technique which involves the engraving of a plate of copper or zinc.  The main gchalcographic techniques are drypoint and etching.

Drypoint
It consists of engraving your work on a copper or zinc plate with an instrument called “cutter” (a very sharp steel needle, equipped with a wooden handle and used as a pencil). Once engraved, the plate is inked and then cleaned so that the ink remains only in the parts previously engraved; after this process, it is placed on the printing press so it can be printed.

Etching
The surface of the plate, after having been smoothed and degreased, is covered with a thin uniform layer of etching wax, then blackened with lampblack to make the wax more resistant to the action of acids and the signs more visible. With a slightly rounded steel tip, sufficient pressure is exerted to uncover the metal, tracing the marks that will make up the image. Protected the edges and the back with a varnish, the waxed plate is put in a bowl containing diluted acid that will bite the metal where the design has scratched the wax by stripping the metal itself (morsure).

Morsure is called :

1. “Flat” when there is only one immersion in the acid, so the signs have all the same strength: the chiaroscuro, the tones are given by the crossings and by the lines more or less close together.

2. for “coverings” when it happens in successive moments, determined by more immersions: after having acidified a first time, we cover with a protective varnish the marks which will have to be thinner, lighter, thinner in the printing; we immerse again for having bigger marks, we cover these and we repeat the operation up to the widest marks. In the print you will see the clear boundaries between the various areas with different morphology.

3. for “additions”, when the signs that one wants stronger in the printing are treated on the plate first, they are acidic and in succession, after each morsure, the signs that one gradually wants thinner are added. This method allows you to have, in addition to the differentiated signs, the passages shaded, soft because you can intervene at any time and in any part of the work until the end of the morsure.

Linocut is the technique of artistic printing in relief, which is aimed at the reproduction of images and graphics on paper, cardboard or cloth through the use of a matrix obtained by engraving from a portion of suitable linoleum or rubber.

Linocut is a variant of woodcut (where the matrix is made of wood).

It begins with a thin sheet of linoleum that is drawn reproducing the subject, and then engraved using special chisels. After engraving the matrix, it will be inked using a flat surface roller; then, a sheet of paper or cardboard will be pressed onto the matrix; this will then be printed on its surface. It is possible to print multi-colour matrices (usually my linocuts are in two colours): to obtain this result, it is possible to print alternating different matrices (one for each colour). My linocuts are printed in my studio in Venice with a vertical press.
